Ah—then it must be introduced properly.Clara’s Christmas Poems is not so much a book as it is a rather well-dressed collection of mischief, disguised (quite convincingly) as a hardcover.It arrives as a beautifully bound printed edition—112 pages that behave themselves just long enough to be opened… and then, quite quietly, begin to wander.Inside, Clara’s poems drift through Christmas in a most peculiar fashion—past nutcrackers who stand a bit too still (as if thinking),through fairytales that seem to have misplaced their endings,alongside witches who whisper instead of warn,and up into the night where flying sleighs pass by without so much as a proper introduction.The illustrations are scattered throughout—whimsical things that appear to have slipped in unnoticed—resting beside the poems as though they have always belonged there (and perhaps they have).Some seem to be observing.It is best not to make too much of it.Tucked within the pages is a small and rather clever QR code—a quiet sort of doorway, really—which leads to the complete audiobook and accompanying music.For these poems do prefer to be heard.They take on a different sort of life once someone is listening… and may behave just a little differently than expected.This is a hardcover edition—something to be held, opened, and returned to, particularly when the world has grown a bit still.It is, by all accounts, a Christmas collection—though one might say it celebrates the quieter, stranger corners of the season.And if you happen to read it late at night—when the house has settled and the air feels just slightly aware—well…that is precisely when it was hoping you would.
